In October 2016, Krystel Wilson was appointed as the Manager of Human Resources Services for the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), which owns and operates Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) and Martin State Airport. In this capacity, Krystel is primarily responsible for developing and implementing human resource management strategies that enable the MAA to recruit and retain high performing and motivated professionals. Additionally, Krystel is responsible for guiding the MAA through reorganizations and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Krystel has established a reputation for streamlining and implementing human resource processes and effectively attracting and recruiting diverse pools of applicants. In a short period of time, she has successfully developed a system that aligns organizational needs to the competencies required to effectively perform. As a result, she has been appointed to the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Tangible Results Committee as a Performance Measure Driver.
Krystel comes to the MAA from the Cleveland Airport System, which is the owner and operator of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Burke Lakefront Airport. In this capacity, she served as the Talent Acquisition Specialist for the airport system. During her tenure at the Cleveland Airport System, Krystel was successful at developing streamlined hiring processes for recruiting and evaluating talent that significantly reduced the recruitment processing time. Additionally, Krystel was very successful at creating innovative methods to recruit and attract talent for positions that are otherwise difficult to fill. In addition to the accomplishments mentioned above, Krystel effectively led the creation and implementation of the Work Order Management System for the Cleveland Airport System to help track, manage and maintain airport assets and facilities.
Krystel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Bryant & Stratton College where she graduated with honors. Krystel is currently completing her Master’s in Business Administration degree at Loyola University in Maryland where she currently holds a 3.7 GPA.
Krystel has been an active member of a number of trade and professional associations including the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Krystel holds a Lean Six Sigma Process Improvement certification as well as a Competent Communicator certification from Toastmasters International. Krystel has been an active participant on several committees within the MAA and the Cleveland Airport System, including the Policy Review Committee and the Communications Committee.

Krystel is a process driven leader who strives to create or improve processes within organizations to enhance efficiency.
